Probably most pepole have the traditional understanding of counter-rotating twin screw extruders. Low speed and low shear are the most points for such machines. Anyway, such typical machines, presently, are just sucessfully applied in PVC process and some other special processes.

Near-to-zero IV drop now is practicable for screw extrusion process. This great point is mainly contributed from some very unique features in such type extruders. Among of these features, the most important point is the larger exposed area to extreme vacuum during extrusion. The most sections along the two screws are exposed and this will cause better removing of low molecular weight materials. Also, the gentle shearing along whole screw could avoid overheating very well.

                                                                                                                                                                                             

Strong taking-in features and high speed condition make this type extruder very advantagous for those fluffy materials, like film scrapes, bottle flakes, chopped fibers. This greatly make it easy to change the screw design. Actually, some typical process require such function, like WPC process, reactive extrusion where the RTD and mixing strength are variable.
