Compounding line of LLDPE plus Cassava starch tested
Date: 15 July 2010
Air cooling die face cutting LLDPE plus cassava starch compounding line has been tested yesterday. This formulation is a semi-biodegradable polymer which is going to sell in USA.
For this customer’s formulation of LLDPE plus 50% cassava starch, we recommended our high torque TDS65D twin screw extruder as main extruder instead of twin screw extruder plus single screw extruder tandem line. This solution decreased the equipment cost substantially on the basis of without sacrifice of quality. Comparing with traditional normal torque twin screw extruder, our TDS-D series high torque one ensures extrusion processing under the temperature as lower as possible. Temperature control is a critical factor for thermal sensitive material like cassava starch.
However when HDPE applied in this formulation, twin screw plus single screw extruder tandem line would be a rational choice, because HDPE has higher melt point and needs more efficient cooling which one twin screw extruder is not able to supply without being lost of output.
Meanwhile we have made the jacket cooling system for air cooling die face pelletizer and convey pipe that will cool down the granules efficiently after cutting in order to avoid granules sticky.
